David Berry - Pedal Steel Guitar
David's bio:
David was born in 1954 in Bristol, Tennessee (the year the Fender Stratocaster was introduced). From a child,
he used to love listening to music and singing harmonies along with family members. The Beatles were an early
influence in his musical life, and still are to this day. He began playing ukulele in the 3rd grade, an
instrument given to him by his grandfather. As a youth, he played guitar, took piano lessons, and played
saxophone in school band. As a young teenager, he played in several bands including: The 20th Century
Buffalo Stampede and The Living Dead. They performed in Charlottesville, Virginia at a number of local
hangouts. In the 70s, he played a lot of acoustic-based music with groups like The Berry Brothers,
Berry & Detamore, and a few other acoustic acts. As the 70s gave way to the 80s and 90s, David broadened
his rock/country-rock repertoire by adding new wave, country, jazz, and southern rock. He played in a
number of bands including: Southbound, Silver Creek, Country Lite, Rumor Has It, and The Naked Puritans.
After moving to Richmond in 1994, he played bass, lead, or pedal steel guitar with various
bands such as the Floating Folk Festival, The Gravity Hounds, the Kate Lawton Band, The Velvet Marias, and the Backstage Pass Band.
He now plays pedal steel guitar and provides backup harmonies for the classic-country/honky tonk band
called Neon Moon. You can reach David by email at: dberry6616@comcast.net.

Walter Boswell - Bass Guitar / Vocals
Walter's Bio:
Walter is a third generation musician. His father, uncles, and grandfather were all
country music players. Walter started at the age of 10 as the drummer in his father's band. His dad,
country music legend Walter Boswell Sr., was a cornerstone of country music in the Richmond, Virginia area.
Walter's dad performed at Bellwood Dancehall for 20 consecutive years. As a kid, Walter (junior) was
always there and would occasionally sit in with the band, eventually becoming a full-time member. At
the age of 19, Walter joined Wheeling Jamboree star Lynn Stewart and the Country Showmen as the group's
bassist. His uncle, Ken Boswell, played pedal steel guitar for the group. Walter has played behind Opry
stars such as Skeeter Davis, Kenny Price, and Conway Twitty's son, Michael Twitty. Over the years,
Walter worked with a number of popular bands in the Richmond area including Dickie Lee and the
Kingsmen (house band at Johnnie's steak house in south Richmond). In 1979, Walter and long time
friend Bobby Seal, formed the group Southbound. The Southbound band was a mainstay in the Richmond
area for 13 years. In the 1980s, they twice won the VFMA State Champions award, in addition to twice
winning the WRNL country radio battle of the bands. Southbound opened shows for Gene Watson, Steve Warnier,
Charley Mclain, John Conlee, Vern Gosdin, David Wills, and Reba McEntire. Southbound also worked as the
house band at the Nightrider Lounge for 3 years. The band became a cornerstone for country music in the
Richmond area. Since Walter's Southbound days, he has worked on and off with a few bands. In 2003,
Brad Spivey (a long time friend), asked Walter to join his group The Honky Tonk Experience. Walter was once
again back in the country music scene. He left the group in 2004 to pursue a private business. Currently,
he is the bassist and primary vocalist with The Neon Moon Band. His son Justin plays drums for the group.
Walter's primary goal is to keep "real" country/honky tonk music alive and kicking. By the way, he loves
to chat about his two passions: country music history and musical equipment gear. If you would like to
chat further about either of those topics, just email Walter at 1boz33@comcast.net.

Justin Boswell - Drums
Justin's bio:
Justin Boswell is a fourth generation musician. His dad, grandfather, and great grandfather were all
country music players. His father Walter claims, "Justin is probably the best trained musician in the
whole Boswell family!". Justin played drums and percussion instruments in middle and high school stage
and jazz bands. In high school, he was also a member of the show choir band. In college, he played drums
in the Uptown Pimps in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Eventually, he extended his musical reach by learning to
play the bass guitar. He began working as the bassist in a local new-age rock band named Nisus. After
college, Justin joined a local heavy rock act called Fallen Under. They played popular venues from
South Carolina all the way to Connecticut, including clubs in his home town of Richmond, Virginia:
the Canal Club, Alley Katz, and Nancy Raygun. He eventually started his own band called Hourglass.
They have performed at the Canal Club and several other local establilshments. Today, Justin and
his father (Walter) play together in the Neon Moon band. As his dad says, "Justin is simply carrying on
the family tradition in keeping great country/honky tonk music alive in the Richmond area.". In addition
to being a great player, he has branched out into sound engineering and record production as well!
Like his father, Justin is a big "gear head" and loves to chat about musical equipment. So, if you want
to know more about Justin's involvement with Neon Moon, his "other" project Hourglass, or musical gear,
you can reach him at: lowsthatkill@yahoo.com.
